Tesla Introduces New Vibrant Vinyl Wraps For Model 3 And Y

Get a wrap straight from the factory.

Tesla has introduced new wraps for the Model 3 and Model Y, giving customers more scope for personalization. Seven colors are available, ranging from $7,500 to $8,000.

The automaker says the wrap is made from a self-healing urethane-based film and notes it is perfect for protecting the paint finish from stone chips, scratches, and other damage. But we all know why Tesla is offering this for its most popular models. Tesla's factory paint finishes are limited to just five colors. The Model 3 and Model Y are strong sellers, so buyers have probably been pleading with the automaker for more colors.

This is one way the brand can do so without upgrading paint shops at US-based factories. The seven wrap colors are fresh and exciting, bringing new life to the aging designs.

Certain hues are available for the first time, such as Forest Green ($8,000) and Satin Rose Gold ($8,000). These shades have seen a comeback in popularity, with several premium brands offering these colors on their cars.

Glacier Blue ($8,000) is particularly classy and works well with Tesla's minimalist design language. Slip Grey ($7,500) reflects current trends, with customers favoring the industrial gloss finish. We've seen this color on other EVs, like the Volkswagen ID.4 and some Porsche models.

Satin Ceramic White and Satin Ceramic Black ($7,500) are also available, with the latter being a typical shade for aftermarket-wrapped Teslas. Crimson Red ($8,000) is rich and dark, accentuating the lines of both cars. It's similar to the Midnight Cherry Red finish available in Europe and the Middle East.

If you're interested, Tesla notes these pricey wraps are only available for 2023+ models, which means most owners are out of luck. The price includes the materials and installation.

Tesla launched a similar service in China three years ago, offering customers more colors via wraps.

Currently, the Model Y and Model 3 are offered in the following five colors: Midnight Silver Metallic, Pearl White Multi-Coat ($1,000), Deep Blue Metallic ($1,000), Solid Black ($1,500), and Red Multi-Coat ($2,000). Earlier this year, Tesla designer Franz von Holzhausen suggested that American Teslas may be getting new paint options soon. The arrival of these wraps gives us the impression this won't be happening anytime soon.

Midnight Cherry and Quicksilver Metallic are only offered on German-built models. Tesla's Gigafactory in Berlin has what CEO Elon Musk describes as the "world's most advanced paint shop," which is why it can create these gorgeous colors.
